Sixth-grade Cobras take the gold

The ClubSport Cobras of San Ramon won the sixth-grade basketball AAU gold division district championships held in San Mateo over the May 2-3 weekend. The team is coached by Gary Brett Beeler. Outstanding offensive players were Ariah Mack, Alyssa Lorenzo, Shannon Rosemark, Chandra Allan, and Kayla Frierson. Top defensive players were Jenna Sparks, Emily Barrett, Shoshana Merriman, Allison Woo and Hailey Bitzer.

The championship game was a 41-40 victory over Mission Rec of San Francisco. Lorenzo led the scoring in the championship game with 11 points and Frierson hit two key free throws to tie the championship game with under a minute to play. Ariah Mack hit a clutch free throw to win the game with seconds left. Leaders for the weekend tournament were Rosemark with 45 points followed by Mack with 41. Mack also led in assists with 13 followed by Allan with 7. Rosemark led the rebounds with 30 followed by Barrett with 25. Finally, Mack led the steals with 16 followed by Allan with 7.
