'Cinderella' onstage at Monte Vista

Monte Vista presents Rogers and Hammerstein musical

Bookmark and Share
"Cinderella" is the Monte Vista High School production playing next week with costumes designed by Kate Moore and Svetlane Pedan as well as brand new scenery painted by the students.

The play features talented actors and actresses that will please children of all ages, said director Vicki Stadelhofer. She also is producer.

"It's wonderful," she said Tuesday evening. "We just finished an orchestra run-through at 6 o'clock. We do a preview matinee at Rancho Romero tomorrow."

Last year Stadelhofer produced "Beauty and the Beast," and the year before that it was "Bye-bye, Birdie."

"The boy that was the beast last year is the prince this year - and his voice has gotten even better," said Stadelhofer. This is her 20th year at Monte Vista, and "Cinderella" is her 64th production. It's a Rogers and Hammerstein musical, performed on Broadway by Julie Andrews in 1965.

Ed Cloyd is the orchestra director; and Julia Bareiss is choreographer. Mat Severns will manage the stage with the help from Christie Beeman, Bryan Corbin, Bahar Haijan, Tom Hemmingsen, Asya Kalaida, Samara Miu, Ashley Lynch, Gerica Ramirez and Iris Wong.

Tori Simmons will star as Cinderella along with Grant Nadji as Prince Charming; Tory Teasley as the Stepmother; Brianna Lempesis and Kristen Laffey as the Stepsisters; Meghan Hammitt as the Fairy Godmother; Jack Schramm as the Herald; Marcus Andrews as the King and Elizabeth Evans as the Queen.

The ensemble consists of Julia Bareiss, Katy Leadabrand, Elizabeth Olinger, Melodee Reid, Diane Rodriguez, Kyle Vamvouris, Charles Jiang, Erich Ritter, Nick Tsai, Ryan Hansen and Taylor Smart.

The play starts at 7 p.m., Wednesday-Friday, Feb. 25-27, at the Monte Vista High School, Al Gentile Theater, 3131 Stone Valley Road, Danville. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 552-2878.
