It was sad to watch the procession for Sgt. Ramos, as they took him to Oakland for the funeral service today in Danville. It made me feel proud to see our fire dept. with two 100' aerial ladder trucks extended out over Diablo road and our stars and stripes hanging across the road as they passed through. Our citizens were lining the street with their hands on their heart. It is so sad for the families and their communties to loose 4 outstanding men that were fighting to keep our cities safe. We are proud of the Oakland Police Department, and all of our police and fire services...to many times we don't get to say thank you for the work they do.

I had the honor of being instructed by Erv Romans and Mark Dunakin at the Oakland Police Academy. As a Danville resident and a Bay Area Police Officer, I am grateful for the citizens of this community who are willing to line the streets to honor Erv and say goodbye. He deserved nothing less. I attended the services today with my fellow brothers and during Erv's eulogy, the speaker specifically thanked the citizens of the Danville/San Ramon area for their support. Please don't ever forget what Erv did for all of us.

I have nothing but gratitude to the police and firemen and women that keep us all safe. This job is so unlike most. When I have a bad day at work I still come home. To those in this service we are with you and are sad for your loss.
