Schools & Kids, posted by Editor, Danville Weekly Online, on Jun 29, 2012 at 10:47 am

Police are seeking the public's help to find a man who harassed and exposed himself to a 14-year-old girl in Walnut Creek last week. The teen was walking along the Iron Horse Trail near Westcliffe Lane around 1:20 p.m. last Monday, June 18, when a man approached her and

This is disgusting, and I feel terrible for the poor girl. I would like to ask parents to please remember that there are adults out there who prey on kids. If your teenaged daughters are running around in teeny shorts and have their bra straps and goodness knows what else hanging out, they are showing these creeps (as well as the whole town) a little too much. While a victim is never to blame, it doesn't hurt to remember that what you project as a young lady (or man) may be adding fuel to their sickness. Keep your kids safe!

Again, not blaming the victim here, but part of protecting our kids is keeping them aware of their surroundings. When people of any age are focused on a little electronic widget in their hand, texting friends or checking their stock reports, they may not even see a predator coming.

...and I would add that this smart girl did an astoundingly good job with the perp's description. Maybe she was one of the rare ones who wasn't on a cell phone.

Luckily this your lady is safe. But let us not forget the odds of this perp being here illegally are high. Oh wait----aren't we told to embrace diversity and not judge others?

Wake up, people-------
