Years of drought on the Colorado River, and below-normal rainfall and snowpack in the Sierra Nevada mountains, combined with environmental restrictions on pumping water, have severely reduced the region’s water supply.

As a result, we are currently heading into Mandatory Conservation. What this means is that restrictions or fines on water usage could be imposed in order to address our water shortage. Therefore we need to make a conscious effort to reduce and minimize our water usage. Easy things we can do to help save water include fixing leaky sprinklers, installing water efficient shower heads, toilets and sprinklers etc. Check out all the tips on the site and pass it on to fellow Southern Californians! This is a would-wide water shortage caused by population growth. We have the same amount of water on Earth that we did in Jeaus' time, but the World population's grown to 7 billion humans. In many places the water's contaminated. This problem's scarier than the world economy collapse.

Dear Dolores,

Rainfall totals in Alamo have already exceeded last year's 19.21 inches and just slightly behind normal rainfall to date for the season, July through June. Shallow wells locally are above 8 feet below the surface with some actually surfacing water onto surrounding property.
