I'm glad to hear that Candace is opposed to discrimination. But, I think the letter writer was pointing out that Candace has declared her support for Prop 8 on a website that claims the best arrangement for children is to be with a mother and father who are married to each other. So, she agrees this statement is wrong because it is discriminatory? Articulating that one group of people (married, heterosexual parents) is better than another group of people (gay parents who are domestic partners or single heterosexual parents for that matter)is a discriminatory statement. So, which is it Candace?

RealTime: Typical fear mongering by a Prop 8 supporter. The heterosexual PARENTS of the kids in the class initiated the field trip. Neither the teacher nor the school initiated this trip. As with any field trip, parents were given the option to opt out and at least two did. Please get your facts "straight" before you continue to spread lies. If you're a bigot and are against gay marriage, just be honest and say you're a bigot.

"Separate" is never, ever "equal" when it comes to fundamental rights to live fully in a society. The US Supreme Court said it in 1954, and our own CA Court reiterated it again this year.
Civil Unions may assuage the consciences of those who won't face their own intolerance -- change and growth are difficult -- but they're a halfway measure to a full-on problem of discrimination and stigma. Please vote No and keep California open to all persons who choose love.

Apparently Danville Mayor Candace Andersen did not get the Supreme Court's memo that Separate Is NOT Equal. The California Supreme Court also found Prop 8 to be unconstitutional, because it is discriminatory.
Please do not vote for this Right Wing Republican again.

The essence of Ms. Andersen's position is that she doesn't think anyone should be discriminated against -- except when she does. Generally speaking, the more people have to explain why their positions aren't what they appear, the more they are clearly just that. The semantic dodge is obvious, and cruel.
She lost me when she misused her office to appear on a Prop 8 website as Mayor of Danville. The Prop had nothing to do with Town business; she should not have appeared in her official capacity.

Its mind boggling when supposedly bright -but as always- flawed people- come out and insist they are not bigots or want to paint themselves in some new fresh bright way. Ms. Anderson MUST understand this - your time is nearing its end. Soon this issue will be a non-issue, because the majority of bigots in our world are dying out. Proposition 8 is revolting and deeply deeply offensive. It is NONE of your business- Why do u somehow believe that you have ANY right to have a say in another human being's quality of life? Why do seem to think YOU should be able to judge whether another human being has the right to get married? OFFENSIVE. ARROGANT. Anyone who has this deep seated conviction, along with her conviction about a woman's right to choose (and I realize you KNOW about Roe V Wade Ms Anderson)I could never ever vote for. This is not a progressive, this is a conservative regressive. Ugly.
