Diablo Views: A novel weekend

I ventured outside my comfort zone last weekend, up to Walker Creek Ranch, 14 miles outside Petaluma. It wasn't the ranch that was the challenge, although it did mean following a map along winding rural roads. It was the activity that was somewhat intimidating: It was the Long Novel Weekend, presented by the San Francisco Bay Area Great Books Council.

I enjoyed your article, though I did not attend this particular long novel weekend. However I am one of the people you referred to. My formal education was all science and math from the age of sixteen. I bumped into Great Books in the nineteen sixties at a Marin Fair and have been an active participant ever since, to my great advantage.
