A Danville woman discovered something very unpleasant in her back yard last week - a decapitated cat. From the fur, which was disheveled and moist from saliva, police guessed the cat was killed by an animal, rather than any act of human cruelty.

It seems to me that Sgt. Kevin Daley was just looking for a headline. As for the cat's attacker, "my best estimate would be a coyote," he said, citing other possibilities such as a bobcat, mountain lion or even a loose rottweiler."

Why a "loose rottweiler"? Isn't there enough breed-specific fear mongering around than to continue it? Let's be honest, it could have been any wild or stray animal. Just leave it at that and leave the speculation out of the news.

I'm disappointed that the Danville Weekly even printed this comment.

the head wasn't severed, yet the animal was decapitated?? Huh??? Where do they get these guys? Back to school for you, Sarge.
