Pet of the Week: Rhett
Comments on Stories, posted by Editor, Danville Weekly Online, on Nov 17, 2012 at 12:09 pm

Rhett is a sweet, gentle soul who is desperately looking for his forever home. We are estimating his age to be about 8yrs old. Because this 8-year-old is the best boy and does not deserve to spend the rest of his life in a shelter, Tri Valley Animal Rescue is making him our "Older Pick of the Litter."

Regarding Rhett -- for anyone who may be hesitant about adopting a non-puppy, The Bark magazine devoted an issue to the special qualities of older dogs inFeb/Mar 2011. They included the following essay: "In Praise of Older Dogs" Web Link

There's also a Bay Area Rescue that is exclusively for older canines: it's called Muttville -- they do great work! Web Link

If you plan to adopt, please don't overlook the charms and settled natures of the "mature" set -- thanks!

Has Rhett been adopted already? I wanted to send a link to a coworker who is looking for a dog, but I don't see him in the adoptable pets list.

I can vouch for adopting an older dog. We have a wonderful dog adopted at almost 4 years old. He is the sweetest, smartest dog we've ever had, and seems grateful to live in a good home. Best decision we have ever made!
