Mountain lion sighted in Danville
Comments on Stories, posted by Editor, Danville Weekly Online, on Apr 30, 2008 at 8:15 am

A mountain lion was spotted by town maintenance workers this morning in a creek behind Charlotte Wood Middle school, near Osage Station Park, at about 8 a.m. The three schools in the area immediately took safety measures, bringing students into the confined areas of the campuses.

Dear neighbors,

Several more things to avoid:

#1 - Do not say, "Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty." (Do not approach or draw attention to yourself)

#2 - Do not leave out trays of fine cheeses and Chardonnay (do not leave food outside for your pets)

#3 - Do not pet the large cat even though you hear HER purring. (Cats like cool spots in moist gardens for daily naps).

You will be taken by the beauty of the cat and the quiet nature. Ah, but that is the oxymoron. Such beauty is dangerous.

Be careful near creeks and open space, please,

OX

So on Thursday, May 1, 2008, what's the current status of the whereabouts of the mountain lion? Is the mountain lion still wandering around near the creek? Has it been found and relocated such as taken back to Mt. Diablo?

Lots of people are avoiding walking on the path near the creek and on Iron Horse trail near the mountain lion sighting, waiting to hear about the current whereabouts of the mountain lion that was sighted at Osage Park.

Thanks for your update.

I just called the Danville Police Department and there is "nothing new." Just that one sighting. But thanks for asking - we'll keep calling and keep you informed.

These sightings seem to be the norm when you build and build and build -- taking away their habitat. It's scary, but realize what society (builders, etc) are doing to these poor animals.

I am not surprised.
