Food write Deborah Grossman of Pleasanton went from an elegant restaurant in San Francisco one day to more humble food at the Alameda County Fair the next. Her conclusion? There is tasty -- and even some nutritious -- fare to be found at the Fair.

Dunno, Deborah -- the cruelty with which foie gras is produced leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

You haven't really lived 'til you've seen video of a foie gras goose so fat and sick that it could not defend itself from the rat gnawing on its foot. Bone appetito!
