Rapid Bus Transportation System for region
Around Town, posted by Kathy Bell, a resident of another community, on Apr 15, 2008 at 12:09 pm

Posted at request of Iron Horse neighbors

Dear neighbors,

Neighbors from Lafayette/Walnut Creek to San Ramon, as the Iron Horse neighbors, have met in casual discussions of how to create rapid transportation systems in the 24/680 corridors. In reviewing rapid bus transportation systems, our neighbors concluded that feeder/express bus systems using 24/680 corridors would compliment BART, ACE and other rapid transit with fast delivery to and from corridor destinations and express stations.

In most rapid bus system studies, the results were only changes in routing for existing bus systems and reduction in costs of operations. Smaller, alternative-fueled feeder buses reduced costs of operation and removed large buses and their noise from neighborhoods.

We invite commentary on this forum to better understand the interests of all neighbors in the region.

Neighbors, here is how to submit your comments to Contra Costa County Connection. A suggestion would be to place a Diablo Vista Region Representative on the committee:

Citizens Advisory Committee

The Citizen’s Advisory Committee consists of members of the public from each of CCCTA’s jurisdictions who have an interest in and commitment to public transportation. The CAC acts as a community advocate and liaison to transit users in their jurisdiction.

City of Concord Charles Hester

Contra Costa County P.J. Sekhon (Chair)

Town of Danville Donna Marvel

City of Lafayette Jim Bradley

City of San Ramon Harvey Riggs

City of Walnut Creek Laurie Kozisek

Staff: Marie Knutson, Community Relations/Citizens Advisory Committee Liaison

To Reach the Citizens Advisory Committee, please leave a message at (925) 676-1976 x214
