Another sad commentary on our failed mental health system and on the lack of insight into significant mental illness. There is little likelihood that it will not be discovered that this young man has been ill for years and the family remained in denial or couldn't or refused to get help.

The only person to blame is the kid who did this to his mother. If you're that screwed up no matter how you got there to do this to another person let alone your mother off to jail you go. Nothing to sob about here. The kid was a jerkoff. Period. My heart goes out to his mother.

Sources state the boy is Schizophrenic and had been in/out of hospitals for years. The family was doing their best to watch over him at home but the illness won. It's a very sad story. The other 3 boys in the family are healthy.
