Town of Danville Going To Social Media
Around Town, posted by Geoff Gillette, a resident of the Danville neighborhood, on Nov 22, 2011 at 1:08 pm

Good afternoon,

Just wanted to take a moment and let everyone know that the Town is adding more avenues of communication.

The Town of Danville is constantly working to enhance its communication with the public and, with that in mind, the Town of Danville will add social media to its communications beginning November 25, 2011.

Coinciding with the annual lighting of the Oak Tree, the Town will add both Facebook and Twitter to the avenues of communication currently being utilized.

Residents who wish to follow the Town’s Twitter feed can subscribe to @DanvilleINFO.

Initially, there will be three Facebook pages that residents can go to. The Town’s main page, www.facebook.com/DanvilleCA, and place pages for both the Danville Police Department, www.facebook.com/DanvilleCAPolice and the Village Theatre and Art Gallery, www.facebook.com/DanvilleVillageTheatre.

The Town is encouraging residents who utilize Facebook to both “Like” the Danville Town Page and share it with their friends to spread the word. The page will be updated on an ongoing basis with information on Town programs, projects and events of interest to the public.

Hope to see you all on Facebook!

Thanks and have a great Thanksgiving!

Dear Geoff and Editor,

When having direct access by e-mail to each council member does not work and appointments for neighborhood groups do not mature, how does social media improve community engagement, communications and interaction on neighborhoods' issues. Example: Explain how this will solve the traffic impact of Magee and Weber Ranch approvals, please.

Do you expect impacted county communities as Alamo, Diablo and Blackhawk to use social media for interaction with Danville's government?

Joyous wishes at Thanksgiving

To the previous poster......don't over think this. Being on Facebook is just a way for the people to keep up with the town happenings. (Town programs, projects and events of interest to the public.)

It will not will solve the traffic impact of Magee and Weber Ranch approvals and this article doesn't even come close to claiming it will.

Chill out and take the facebook account for what it is...something fun.
