What are the Danville Police doing about the traffic and crime in this town ? Very little !!

I suggest you attend a Mornings with the Mayor breakfast on the first Friday of next month to voice your concerns. There is usually an officer (if not the chief) present.

How a "revenue ticket" can to turn a win-win into a lose-lose.

Win: Iron Horse Trail user avoids using the crossing button but times their crossing of San Ramon Valley Blvd in order to maintain the uninterrupted flow of the light but present traffic.

Win: Iron Horse Trail user avoids using the crossing button, times their crossing of San Ramon Valley Blvd in order to maintain the uninterrupted flow of the light but present traffic, and gets across sooner.

Lose: For this action an Iron Horse Trail user is awarded a $160 ticket by Danville PD for failure to use the crossing signals.

Lose: Contra Costa businesses to loose $2,000 in revenue as Iron Horse Trail user, feeling that the ticket was motivated more by revenue generation than the intent of any law broken, feels obligated to transfer enough business outside Contra Costa in order to deny them the sales tax, ($160 fine / 8% sales tax = $2k).

Lose: a child who sees said user avoid using the crossing light tries the same thing and is hit by a car.

Use the crossing light. It's there for a reason. Just because you can safely navigate it does not mean everyone can. If you can't spare the extra 90 seconds it takes for the light to go your way leave the house a little sooner.

The whole revenue generation argument is so played out. You got a ticket, get over it and follow the law next time.
