Streetwise: What and where do you usually eat breakfast?
Around Town, posted by Editor, Danville Weekly Online, on Aug 26, 2011 at 8:48 pm

Although not all people consider breakfast to be the most important meal of the day, research suggests that eating breakfast can increase concentration, improve metabolism and help with losing weight. With that in mind, Roving Reporter Stan Wharton went to Sycamore Square and asked residents about their typical morning meal.

No breakfast during the week. On weekends we'll have toast and a couple of eggs (inc. yolks!) or, if we have visitors, maybe crepes with lemon juice or strawberry waffles.

Dear Stan,

Beyond toast and coffee, you brought back memories of a favorite breakfast and its location. Smoked salmon pastry with Cafe Americain in the French Quarter of Paris would top my list. I enjoyed Rye toast with peanut butter, sliced tomatoes and blue cheese at a small deli when I worked in the former silicon valley. Locally, I enjoy my coffee in Walnut Creek along with a cheese plate along North Main.

When I was in China on business I often enjoyed the Silverland's fried egg sandwich with sliced tomatoes and french mustard. In Singapore at the Sheraton Towers it was the red papaya, yoghurt and great Indonesian coffee.

I have never had breakfast in Danville and look forward to recommendations from your readers. Actually, I like recommendations for a great cup of coffee in Danville.

Of Ralph over toast and coffee

My fave is Father Natures. Their omlets are great and served with fresh fruit a big plus. Also the prices are more than reasonable.

@ Ralph: I'll be trying some of your breakfast combos, in particular the rye toast with peanut butter, sliced tomatoes and blue cheese and perhaps the Smoked salmon pastry. For plain coffee, IMHO Peet's can't be beat although, at the Danville location, be prepared for the constant clatter of cyclists clip in shoes, heading for the restroom, and sometimes a bit too much over-stretched spandex.
