News service alliance distribution and polling in Contra Costa neighborhoods east to west last evening recognized the actions by CCC-BOS June 28 to be wholly political. Each supervisor was defending voters they see as their supporters rather than serving commonality of regions that logically and legally create rational districts. Polling response recognized such political actions as a disservice to Contra Costans’ will and interests. More importantly, polling response illustrated a loss of voter support for incumbent supervisors in Districts 2, 3 and 4 in their current districts.

Overall, Contra Costans now feel that districts should be designed without regard to any supervisor’s residence to insure that district boundaries are drawn based on commonality of interests among residents of the district. Yesterday’s BANG article provided Contra Costans justification of such logical boundaries and subscribers are reading an in-depth feature this morning from news service distribution that explains such commonality of interests. Such reporting now shows Contra Costans are now satisfied with how the State districts are being redefined by an independent committee to achieve commonality and fully expect the same results from their employees among CCC-BOS.

The net affect for supervisors is they are designing districts for their successors in most districts. Any attempt to politically retain voters by supervisors has proven to have a backlash among those voters. Any attempt by a majority of supervisors to isolate a supervisor from his/her voters has potential for backlash in all supervisors’ districts. Thus, yesterday was a large step by supervisors in the wrong direction in the minds of voters. News service polling provided “how likely are you to vote for a new candidate for supervisor?” with 72% of Contra Costans responding positive and very positive.
