AIA meeting, June 9, to discuss MVHS solar power generation station
Around Town, posted by [removed], a resident of the Alamo neighborhood, on Jun 6, 2011 at 3:22 pm

Dear Editor,

Neighborhoods are tracking www.alamoca.org, the Alamo Improvement Association website, for issues impacting the Alamo region and Iron Horse/680 south corridor. “Where else can you read about redistricting, transportation, parcel tax appropriations, and school facilities issues in the Alamo region?” noted Keith, a neighborhood rep and AIA member. Neighbors are finding in-depth information on issues that can have a major impact on their political voice, traffic, public safety, open space preservation, and neighborhood character on the pages of alamoca.org and in agendas of planning and board meetings.

This week, AIA planning will have its meeting on Wednesday, June 8, and its board meeting on Thursday, June 9, both at Creekside Church at 7PM. The board is inviting Monte Vista High School neighbors to their board meeting to discuss the potential visual impact of a solar power generation station, referred to as a solar carport, to be built over the MVHS parking lot that is centered in Alamo neighborhoods. Issues of height requirements for emergency vehicle access and industrial superstructure to carry the weight of older technology solar panels and their tracking systems will be discussed.

AIA meetings are interactive discussions intent on Alamo region residents’ consideration and mitigation of issues that impact region’s neighborhoods and business district.
