An additional Redistricting Workshop has been added. The workshop will be held in the City of Lafayette, Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 7pm to 8:30PM. 24/680 south corridor neighborhoods are encouraging neighbors to attend this District 2 meeting to better understand the commonality of interests among Lamorinda, Alamo region, Diablo, Blackhawk, Dougherty Valley and the San Ramon Valley neighborhoods.

At tonight’s redistricting workshop at the Lafayette Community Center, a few Lamorinda neighbors were worried that the Iron Horse corridor, Alamo to San Ramon, was a right-wing conservative stronghold that would overwhelm the moderate voters of Lamorinda. In suggesting evidence to Lamorinda residents that our Iron Horse corridor holds the same majority of moderate voters, it was easy to point to the election of Joan Buchanan and Jerry McNerney by a majority of our corridor voters.
The small, vocal conservative faction that is comprised of a few thousand residents provides for such a conclusion at public gatherings including the Danville Fourth of July parade. Clearly, those voices are not the majority of voters or do they reflect attitudes of our corridor’s majority. Our 24/680 south corridor neighborhoods have strong linkage among our moderate majorities.
