Mayor's Morning highlights crime prevention, redevelopment
Crimes & Incidents, posted by Editor, Danville Weekly Online, on Feb 12, 2011 at 5:24 pm

"My philosophy (towards criminals) is 'you don't mess with Danville residents,'" said Police Chief Steve Simpkins. At Father Nature's on Friday morning, Simpkins encouraged residents to call the police, even if they think an incident might be unimportant.

Dear Jessica,

I wonder if Steve wants to know when Danville Police cars are in Alamo? Maybe a picture or three might help Steve explain their presence?

I am sure Steve is as curious as Alamo residents are.

Hey Hal-

What's your beef with having Danville Police cars in Alamo? They often travel through Alamo to respond for calls of service in the Danville community as well as assist the Sheriff's Office on calls. We all know they (Sheriff's Office) is short staffed and Danville PD's assistance is most certainly appreciated.

And whether you know it or not, they have authority in Alamo as well as the State of California pursuant to the penal code to enforce the law throughout the State. So, don't be a hater. They are there for everyone's protection.

Your self-centered hatred toward Danville should not reflect on public safety.

You are an antagonist and your credibilty on this site based on past post from folks in this wonderful community basically indicate that you never really have anything constructive to offer. This one is yet just another example...

Dear Jessica,

First let me thank Vice Mayor Andersen and the Sheriff's substation Alamo for answering why Danville Police would be present in Alamo. For your Alamo readers' information, Danville Police officers respond in support of Alamo sheriff officers' call for support. Other presence would be a result of meetings held in Alamo between the two jurisdictions.

Alamo neighbors should not expect any other actions by Danville police officers in their neighborhoods.

Good to know,

I'll point out that the officers in Danville and Alamo are all Sheriff's deputies. They may be assigned to the valley station in Alamo for several years, then be reassigned to Danville and then work in Richmond or the jail. Danville just happens to pay for different uniforms and police cars than the rest of the county uses.
