Remembering The Danville Weekly
Around Town, posted by Hal, a resident of another community, on Oct 5, 2010 at 8:18 am

Dear Dolores,

Neighborhood e-exchanges remembered your final print edition one year ago this weekend. Your readers recognized that much of the journalism that is now focused on communities and neighborhoods by BANG, news services and the Patch was created by your willingness to report corridor politics during the initial years of The Danville Weekly.

Today, BANG has an aggressive editorial and news reporting approach challenging actions by governments and politicians. The Patch uses many of your models in profiling candidates for elected office. Overall, you need to very proud of the journalism that continues from its origins in The Danville Weekly.

Journalism has given way to the Danville EXpress and the publication of press releases, publishers' politics and a very unsavory Forum. The model remains for journalism at EMCEB and your readers will continue to encourage Emily to pursue that model.

Applause,
