The Gecko
State, National, International, posted by Alamo Ron, a resident of the Alamo neighborhood, on Sep 23, 2010 at 10:05 pm

The GEICO people have many commercials featuring the gecko. But what is the gecko's name. In a recent commercial, the spokesman says something about "...and now we'll hear from the gecko." But no name is mentioned.

I therefore propose a name for this famous commercial presence.

His name, of course, is Gordon.

Dear Dolores,

Such a fun topic of names. You and I are still searching for the name of the shoe shine horse, often seen as a humorous eye sore, that stands tall at the Alamo Hay and Grain. Maybe we could get a large Gecko to sit astride this horse of several names and we could call them both Gordon.

It also brings up the question in Alamo about how much demand there is for a hay and grain store? Who are their customers and what are they doing with hay and grain? And why a horse on top of an old post office building?

Many would be more pleased with a unicorn, especially the children of long ago that named the horse, Norman. Ah, but likely not a good name for a Gecko.
