The conflicts of leadership

Conflicts of interest are challenges for journalists and politicians. How would your readers judge an independent journalist that engages in a government-allied region program? What would we say if we considered a county government staffer participating in a local government-allied engagement program? What if both the journalist and the political staffer were part of the same program? Should we ask about their relationship?
