Hello from your new editor
Editor's Blog, posted by Emily West, editor of Danville Express, on Apr 15, 2010 at 6:10 pm

As you may have noticed, there's been a little switch going on behind the scenes of Embarcadero Media, the parent company for Danville Express. Allow me to introduce myself as the new editor. My name is Emily West and I have spent the past three and a half years as the features editor at the Pleasanton Weekly and TriValley Views, a paper and website serving the Dublin community.

Dolores Fox Ciardelli, the former editor of the Danville Express and San Ramon Express, has moved back to her former post as managing editor for the Pleasanton Weekly and now also for TriValley Views. But, she's not going far. She'll still be involved in print products and special sections in Danville and San Ramon. In fact, our desks are a few steps from each other, so we're in constant touch and having fun comparing notes on news and happenings.

I am becoming even more acquainted with Danville, where I have relatives on Love Lane, and San Ramon. In fact, my husband recently started working at a company in Bishop Ranch and I have enjoyed exploring the area with him. One of my favorite local haunts is Costco, where my mother-in-law works. (It's really a family affair around these parts!) You may catch me in the food court with a slice of combo pizza and maybe a berry sundae once the weather warms up.

If you have any questions, concerns or story ideas, please send them my way at editor@danvilleexpress.com.

Did you edit and or review the loving portrait of Angela Davis in today's issue? If so, it is reprehensible that we portray her as a role model or inspiration for our kids.

It was one of two photos that I took of her yesterday. I only cropped it.

Emily...indeed welcome and best of luck to you. I know being a journalist you must have a thick skin, I just wanted to reinforce that you can put anyone's picture in the DE without fear of repercussions from our left and right factions. Those seeking to be the informal thought police are way out of line.

We had the opportunity to meet with Emily last week and she was a pleasure to deal with. Welcome to our Danville community!

As also posted elsewhere on this site.......

I, for one, appreciate the effort that is put into this site and enjoy it for what it is, a site focused on the community I live in.

And if a bit of peer review occasionally turns up an error, so what. Perfection in all things would be nice but, last time I looked this was the real world.

And if anything is getting boring it is the same few people who insist on injecting negativity into everything that they read.

So here is a big THANK YOU you to the editor, webmaster and team who make this site possible.

THANK YOU :-)
