Because of budget problems, the Mt. Diablo Region YMCA is closing the existing (east county) facility and canceling long-standing plans to build a state-of-the-art one at the same O'Hara Avenue location. It also will close its facility in Clayton and is canceling plans for a new facility in the San Ramon Valley.”

I could not get this verified today and was given to understand the future of San Ramon Valley YMCA's new facility is still under discussion. I hope to hear more tomorrow.

Dear Dolores,
There is current discussions among the county, town of Danville and YMCA that are considering public funding of the SRV YMCA facilities and operations. Neighborhoods committees discovered these discussion late yesterday and will oppose any such uses of parcel taxes and other funding to create a commercial enterprise on the SRV YMCA site.
With potential to add the site and facilities to the overall Hap Magee operations, interested parties in governments are attempting to control alternative and preferred uses of the land by Alamo region neighborhoods.
Regional neighborhoods are warning east county neighborhoods that such considerations are being pursued at MDR YMCA sites.
