What really can be said in 3 Minutes or less?
Around Town, posted by Hal Bailey, a resident of the Alamo neighborhood, on Aug 20, 2009 at 9:02 am

Dear Dolores,

Various boards, councils, commissions, committees, and taskforces, in their public meetings, restrict citizens’ presentations to 3 minutes or less. As Contra Costa County District 3 prepares to appoint seven strangers to the majority of residents as Alamo Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) members, we will see the many issues that separate District 3 from residents fail expression in 3 minute or less.

So what could be said in 3 minutes or less. Even comedy routines are five minutes and there certainly is nothing funny about Alamo’s issues among factions and the majority in neighborhoods. The MAC members, without relationship or context with neighborhoods, will be asked to understand complex issues that can only be superficially summarized in 3 minutes.

As a result, likely nothing will be said to seven MAC strangers by the majority in Alamo and its region.

Hal Bailey
