I was at the Planning Commission meeting Tuesday evening where Danville resident David Lowe presented an application to keep his 18,000 square-foot turf field - for baseball. It includes at 14-foot fence and neighbors nearby say it's an eye sore.
Media coverage was high. There were four to seven cameras filming the commission. There were reporters lingering about. There was so much coverage. Do you think it deserves this amount of coverage?
Anyhow, residents were pretty upset about Lowe's field. They felt he was inconsiderate and didn't take account their perspectives when he built it.
Is anyone livid or angry over this? How would you feel if you had a 14 foot fence on a hill when you look from your backyard?

I think he should have asked the neighbors first if they would have minded. Of course he already knew the answer would be Yes, they minded. What I minded was that it was a typical Danville parent going overboard over his children's sports. Why can't kids just play sports and enjoy themselves, w/o overly agressive parents?

You bet your bottom $ I am angry, but not at Mr. Lowe. Anon from WC has almost got it 100%. Yes there are plenty of DV parents that go overboard, but there are just as many in WC. The people that went overboard are his neighbors who think that they should have a say in what Mr. Lowe does with his own land. They should have been smarter and sold the land to the county, Save Mt. Diablo, EBRP, or one of the other goverment agencies that will ensure that those in the proletariat don't have their views obstructed, before the land was sold to Mr. Lowe. Since they were too late, they lose. The fence is not an eyesore, it looks like a fence.
My backyard has a $1,000,000 view of Mt. Diablo obstructed by 3 of my neighbors large redwood trees. I wonder if the Town would give me a permit to chop them down? In order to be consistent with their ruling, they would have to.

Mr. Lowe's ball park looks great! It shows he wants the best for his family. His neighboors need to quit staring through his fence at the sky or Mt. Diablo or whatever all day and get a hobby. Maybe volunteer at the homeless shelter... That might give them some perspective about how lucky they are to have a multi-million dollar house that has only one flaw: their neighboor's fence. Get a life already!
