Incorporation position statements due to LAFCO on September 8, 2008

For Diablo Vista (Alamo) region neighborhoods e-exchanges:

On Monday, September 8, 2008, all position statements to be included in Contra Costa LAFCO commissioners' prior consideration of AIM's incorporation application must be delivered to Ms. Lou Ann Texeira, ltexe@lafco.cccounty.us. At present, opposition, definition, annexation and exclusion supporters are preparing position statements for commissioners' consideration.

A typical position statement is 200 to 400 words and includes the following:

(1) Commissioners' summary - what is your position in brief.

(2) Detailed additions, deletions or changes requested to AIM's LAFCO application and incorporation proposal.

(3) Group or individuals proposing this position with designated contact information.

(4) Conflicting proposals such as a Municipal Advisory Council, special districts with justification.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: It should be understood that if LAFCO commissioners approve incorporation without additional positions to consider, the resulting incorporation proposal will be the defined choice for voters in an incorporation election. Only those issues brought up at the public hearing described in this notice or in written correspondence delivered to the Contra Costa LAFCO at or prior to the hearing may be raised in any legal challenge to the actions taken by the Commission with respect to an application.

The hearing will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. at the Creekside Community Church, located at 1350 Danville Blvd. in Alamo, CA. At this meeting, the Commission will consider all oral and written testimony of any interested persons or affected agencies. All interested persons are invited to be present and heard. Dear neighbors,

Thank you for considering your positions on incorporation within the Diablo Vista region and specifically the proposed incorporation of the Town of Alamo. For those that faced the public risk of publishing such positions, I personally thank you for your courage and definition. For those that only provided positions to our e-exchanges, your perspectives help define voting consideration among neighbors.

For the many that noted, "It is easier to vote NO than define a reason to vote YES," the last sixteen months have simply provided you no other conclusion. You now leave a YES vote in the hands of those that must define incorporation for consideration by rational voters.

We must thank all neighbors, including the proponents of the Town of Alamo, for the consideration of our future and voice of our will and interests within our governments.
