Measure D fails; Supervisor Piepho gets another term
State, National, International, posted by Editor, Danville Weekly Online, on Jun 14, 2008 at 10:59 am

Measure D supporters were glum as Superintendent Rob Kessler spoke to them Tuesday night shortly after 9 p.m., thanking them for their efforts. Absentee ballots and early returns showed the parcel school tax was receiving 58 percent support when it needed 66 percent to pass.

Of course Piepho won. With all the local newspapers and developers supporting her and at least two Piepho political signs for every Houston sign how could she possibly not have won? I think that the Piepho campaign is taking advantage of the political naivety of many of the people in her county district. Also, now that Piepho is back I wouldn't be surprised if county spending and debt goes over the roof and development, including development outside of the Urban Limit Line, continues to rise rapidly.

How could you even try make those comments? For one, I saw two Houston signs for every one Piepho sign. Most of the Houston signs were posted directly infront of the Piepho signs to block them from view. Actually that says about what kind of childish campaign guy Houston ran.

This election had one of the lowest turnout of voters which indicates mostly informed voters went to the ballot box.

Piepho is the supervisor who actually turned around the county's run away spending. It was with her on the board, that the county began to actually put money into reserves and did not spend more than it was taking in.

Where are you getting your facts, from the defeated Houston campaign?

Check the facts, Piepho has approved less homes (if any) than any other supervisor in years. Certainly far less than Houston!

What is wrong with getting newspaper endorsements anyway? Piepho clearly was the better candidate all around the board.

The race is over, so you can quit slinging mud.

Great points informed resident.

And why am I STILL seeing Houston signs out and about?! He needs to clean up his garbage!
