Of course it is about the money! It is ALWAYS about the money - NEVER the education!!
Douglas you are absolutely correct. It's not about money...what a stupid statement. Please Koehne, do you think our brains are dead. MONEY, MONEY that is the only reason you and other admin folks are concerned. Give us a break.

On any given day in High School my student will tell me what a waste of time. This student has well over a 4.0 and does care about their education. A day filled with movies, pointless discussions, or just read the board and do the worksheet. What does the district say to the students who attend school, yet get nothing out of it? Is it worth sitting in class for $28.00 a day? No wonder the students feel they can miss a day or two.
The SRVHS attendance office is a joke. Class trips assigned by and approved by the administration/teachers are marked unexcused and it is then the students problem to correct it. IT IS ABOUT MONEY.
I would urge everyone to stop voting for any more bonds, measures, taxes etc. it doesn't take $ to educate a child well. Homeschoolers out score public most of the time. And privates do a better job on a fraction of the bloated wasteful cash.
One own's their respective opinions but the facts belong to all of us. The cost of a top-flight private does not compare favorably to a public institution. I'll not litigate your homeschooler example. However, I'm fairly sure that even the strongest proponent would not state that it is for everyone with school age children.
Athenian School (2013-14 school year) - $26.5k for middle school / $33.5k for high school ($53.6k with boarding).
Quarry Lane School (2013 - 14) - $19.4k for middle school / $25.6k for high school.
De La Salle HS (boys) / Carondelet HS (girls) (2013-14) - $15.6k and $15.1k, respective, NOT including uniform expenditures and extracurricular fees.
The fees speak for themselves or in some circles 'Res Ipsa Loquitur'.
