Deputy Sheriffs Association blasts sheriff for mailer Around Town, posted by Left Unsaid, a resident of the Walnut Creek neighborhood, on May 30, 2008 at 7:03 pm
Dear Readers,
A new low in local politics has been reached. Sheriff Rupf has come out with a last-minute hit piece against Mary Piepho.
According to an email from Mary's campaign, "the Sheriff's hit piece is potentially illegal, definitely inaccurate and conflicts with his comments in today's Contra Costa Times.
His mailer was sent too late for us to respond so I ask you to use your grassroots/email network to let people know the truth about Mary's support for public safety.
The Sheriff's budget went up by more than $10 million dollars this year and no sworn officers were laid off."
There is much more to read on this scurrilous attack at Lisa Vorderbrueggen's website Web Link
I urge you to see this for what it is - a last minute attempt to hijack the re-election of Mary Piepho, a highly valued public servant.
The Sheriff should realize that he's going to get a lot of sores on his tongue...

No...I don't think a new low has been reached in local politics. It's just the same old low by the same old players. The sheriff should stick to his assigned job qualifications and keep his personal opinions to himself. Throwing rocks at our highly qualified Supervisor, Mary Piepho is not appropriate and I would suggest Sheriff Rupf issue a public apologize.
