Dear neighbors,

This story of Shapell brings such warm memories of Milpitas. In the Late '90's as Hal and others among us were bringing technology to our world, Shapell was delivering stucco to our hillsides. Our land has been scarred and covered with stucco on boxes quite in a row all over Contra Costa County. The result, if I might borrow Hal's humor, is repetition of monster boxes looking like a Comfort Inn from a strip mall in Fresno.

It is not humor that we must recognize that Shapell was recognized for bringing rows of stucco to our absent landscape that was once the San Ramon and other valleys.

Now couple this with Guy Houston and you have DUBLIN!

Now there is an image that cannot be compared to anything past present (or hopefully future) in Contra Costa County. Houston has never met a homebuilder he did not like!

The focus of this discussion is the community contribution of Chris Truebridge versus the questions of sprawling development sponsored by Shapell. The questions raised are whether such recognition is appropriate to the results created by Shapell and other builders.

In review of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisor agenda and results for the 2005 to Present, Supervisor Piepho has repeatedly presented agenda items favoring Shapell. Thus, the question of recognition for Shapell creates questions concerning relationships among county and city governments. The focus of that question is the role of the Rotary Club of San Ramon Valley in such relationships.

Well don't worry everyone...there is a decline in the building of stucco homes. That's the good news for you...the bad news you ask? Unemployment is on the rise cause developers are laying off...Oh but I am sure that is ok with you since you no longer have to wait inline at lunch time cause those pesky building employees aren't taking up space in the resteraunts around town.

Get over it people.....Development is important for our economy. Stop being such elitist!
