Police said the Danville area has experienced a rash of telephone scam calls recently. In many of the cases, the victim is called by someone claiming they are calling on behalf of a loved one or acquaintance. The scammer will claim that their loved one is in some sort of trouble, then will say the victim is named as someone who would help.

Why does anyone answer their phone live any more, unless the incoming # is recognizable? Let all your calls go to voicemail and return the important ones. If you pick up your phone and end up on the line with a telemarketer or a scammer, you pretty much asked for it.

seriously. This has been going on for years. I think our PD has too much time on its hands, even though they're very busy parking empty police cars all over town.
