Please review these comments from this story:
Measure D, also called the Excellence in Education Act or parcel tax, would raise money for the school district by increasing assessment fees from $90 to $166 per year. The parcel tax will be on the June 3 ballot and needs a two-thirds vote to pass. Guy Houston pointed out that only 30 cents of each tax dollar at the state level would go toward education whereas 100 percent of the Measure D funds would go directly into schools. "I think the math of 100 cents vs. 30 cents makes a lot of sense," he said. Mayor Candace Andersen encouraged residents to vote "yes" on Measure D this summer. She said the outstanding quality of life in Danville is in large part due to the excellent schools in the area.

The only thing not TRUE about Measure D is it will not be "summer" when you vote for the Measure. Yes, please understand the Measure and ask for in-depth uses of funds decriptions. Yes, please vote YES.

Dear neighbors,
In research of Measure D, the only real disclosure is the change in the parcel tax rate currently charged. The increase with be 84%.
SRVUSD and various supporters would not provide budget specifics for the use of the nearly doubled tax income except to say that it replaces money withdrawn by the State. We could not get specific line items that are impacted by the State budget reductions or could we get specific commitment to usages of the parcel tax increase.
I would agree with Hal that we should support an obvious need, but we cannot support an undefined need. If SRVUSD wishes to welcome our YES vote then we will welcome definition of the uses of the funds from Measure D.
