SRVUSD Measure D exemption for Seniors
Around Town, posted by CDSI Community Courtesy, a resident of another community, on Apr 25, 2008 at 7:26 am

Dear neighbors,

Seniors (over 65) may apply for an exemption from parcel taxes for SRVUSD tax measures. Even if you support Measure D on the June Ballot, you are not obligated to pay the parcel tax or any current SRVUSD special parcel tax.

Contact: Terry Koehne tkoehne@srvusd.k12.ca.us 925-552-2942

SRVUSD will provide you a form to complete and return to SRVUSD for filing with the county.

Dear Senior Citizens,

Let's see, you are able to vote for Measure D and you are not required to pay for it. How do you feel about that? You get to support our schools with your vote but don't have to use your money.

I'm sure most of you had children that were educated in our schools and I just wonder why you might seek exemption from paying for the same schools.

What is important to you?

Sarah

Dear Sarah,

The parents and PTSA of the 1990's raised money, paid directly for class size reduction, and worked for measures that built the schools your children now enjoy. SRVUSD grew during the 1990's on the will of parents to fund and build schools and education for our children and YOURS.

It is simply now your turn!

Jack

Dear neighbors,

Our efforts as SRVUSD supporters over the past 15 years have resulted in schools that provide exceptional educational opportunities for students. We have been disappointed by growing autonomy among the Board of Trustees and the impact of their decisions in the Diablo Vista region. Certainly our neighborhoods will remember the abusive, selective decision to build a parking lot in the middle of one of our neighborhoods without concern or representation for such district residents.

Measure D needs to be reviewed carefully and we must be satisfied that a rational use for the money exists. It is not time to simply believe the Board of Trustees or district PR. We need in-depth budgets that justify the measure or it does not deserve our vote.

SRVUSD Trustees and supporters are once again hoping for a low turn-out so they can rally parents to be a majority YES vote. Don't let Measure D be another "Pig in a Poke" in our region. Demand disclosure.
