New SRVUSD Bond - late meeting notice
Schools & Kids, posted by C. R. Mudgeon, a resident of the Danville neighborhood, on Aug 1, 2012 at 4:29 pm

It was nice to receive a mailing from the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD), announcing an informational meeting to discuss their new school bond proposal, scheduled for 7/31/12. Except that it arrived the day of the meeting, so that by the time I was reading it after getting home from work, the meeting was already half over.

Or perhaps they didn't really want too many of the public to attend, other than supporters who would have been notified via other mechanisms, such as announcements made to teachers and other SRVUSD employees. I'm probably being too cynical...

The information provided in the flyer on the purposes for the bond money was fairly vague, but the district web site has the following proposed/draft project list:

Lots of big-ticket items. Many of the items seem quite necessary, such as classroom additions and a new school for the Dougherty Valley area (due to increased students, etc.), as well as some items related to seismic retrofitting, and fire and intrusion alarm systems. But there are also lots of "modernization" items.

No mention was made of additional solar projects, which are a clever way of "converting" bond money into operational savings. But perhaps these fall under some of the "standard modernization for entire campus" projects.
