The Tri-Valley Community Foundation, which serves Danville among other communities, is in rough financial waters, facing questions of poor financial management, misapplying donations, making promises it couldn't keep and ongoing overspending that's left the agency nearly $175,000 in debt.

Another example of non-profits that are not well monitored. Alot of directors are taking huge salaries and spending like it is their own money. One should check nonprofits out before donating. Ask for a profit and loss statement or for independent nonprofit rating. Too many non profits that are not legitimate and are funding lavish lifestyles for those who run them. Check them out and be careful who you donate to. (I was burned by a local breast cancer non profit in Danville. Woman who was director, lived in an expensive home, drove a nice car, and took a generous salary. She had several successful fundraisers at a local country club, after several volunteers found out she was a fraud, she shut it down, took whatever money was left and moved out of state.)
