Joe takes the most amazing pictures! They make me see the area I've lived in for 40 years in a whole new way. I can't wait for the weekends to get out and explore regions closer to home rather than drive for hours.

Dear neighbors,

Recently, I visited Diablo and my hosts pointed to Golden Eagles flying along the western face of Mt. Diablo. The large, graceful birds were making elegant turns in updrafts along the mountain.

The many faces of the mountain provide a beautiful presence for us all. To drive 24 toward Walnut Creek at sunset and see the mountain glowing red is a welcome home for many of us. Another face is seen from our delta region as we view the more rocky face. The mountain has a very broad, soft face when viewed from our east county.

The beauty of photographs should invite all of us to see the many faces of Mt. Diablo.

When you look at Mt. Diablo, a lot of people see the burnt orange color, and think it is grass starting to turn color. There are massive fields of poppies on the mountain, and people should go up to rock city to look out and take them in.
