Bar and restaurant owners may sue the city of Walnut Creek if it moves forward with new rules that would crack down on alcohol sales, according to reports.

Good for WC. If businesses are creating problems in what has always been a safe place to go at night they're not welcome. WC doesn't seem to have any problems attracting business, so if the bad actors can't behave, someone else will take their place.

This is just like the gun control issue. Guns are not the problem, people are. In this case, it is not the availability of alcohol at bars serving until last call, it is the people. So DON'T blame the bar and restaurant owners, blame the drunks. And besides, what do we hire the police for? So they can take breaks and not work? Do you blame the people selling the gun ammunition for all the problems with guns?
Do you think Walnut Creek would try to ban or limit guns if Walnut Creek versus Oakland had a shooting at a University. No they wouldn't, because it is not politically feasible. But first thing the city council does is try to limit alcohol sales, because it is politically feasible. They are competing against the likes of the cash strapped Restaurant and Bar Assn, not the NRA. Fight these government fascists! Alcohol for All! is a fundamental right for all Americans.

Since bar offer a "fun" place to gain a niffty profit, they should have taken care of and or provide security for the real disturbance which automatically comes with alcohol consumption by a fringe element.
They seek profit, and responsibility comes with greater burden since alcohol is the root of the profit for owners.
They didnt do it.
They now pay the price for not tending to their business, spin off fringe problems.
What harm is there?
To other community members who are not at the bar but at home and parked cars are in the area to the fringe element which comes out of the bars.
