Comments on Stories, posted by Editor, Danville Weekly Online, on Mar 5, 2012 at 6:16 am

Dr. Hsui-Ying "Lisa" Tseng was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on Thursday after several of her patients, including a Cal High grad, died from prescription drug overdoses. According to reports, Tseng gave prescriptions for highly addictive drugs such as OxyCotin and Xanax after hasty examinations and minimum questions.

Sad wasteful loss. These boys drove from Southern Az to this doctors office with the express plan to receive the medications that are lethal. The doctor will and should lose her license to practice medicine in the US, but as to the charge of murder, I think is a stretch. Most all people who abuse Oxycodone know that if you mix alcohol with it the result is respiratory arrest. To use alcohol with this is just plain suicidal.

Very sad---- but what is being done about the new "crop" of drs being cranked out of colleges like Stanford? One got 20% on her MCAT and D's in undergrad at a different school. But she got into a "special minority program" that allows them to take exams in tutored pieces over months. They they are turned loose on ------US.

@ Darrien-

.....or hired by Kaiser

Darrien: citation, please. Otherwise, that tale has a barnyard aroma.

C. Paine, you are too kind. Darien's urban myth isn't just B.S., it's overtly racist BS. For those of us stuck in "reality-based" thinking, here are the facts, which are publicly available from the AAMC: from 2009 through 2011, more white students with undergraduate GPAs under 2.8 were admitted to medical schools in America than blacks (175 vs. 152) Twice as many white applicants with MCATs of 20 and below were admitted to medical schools during that time period than blacks: 312 vs. 152. So chances are if you see a MD who had a low GPA in college or scored 20 or below on his MCAT - he's white. Oh - and the MCAT isn't scored as a % - it's a straight point system. But why let reality intrude on a perfectly comfortable racist fairy tale?

And by the way - any student accepted into medical school still has to pass the medical licensing exams to become a doctor, and those exams (a) are very hard and (b) don't know what your ethnic background is.

Spreading lies is bad. Spreading racist garbage is even worse.

Oh my oh my --huh et al-----what are you smoking!? Derek and Darrien are correct. The stats from groups like AAMC are bogus. I have seen these "special program" grads in action----frightening-----amazing Huh? Played the "racist" card (proof his argument is false)---and yet by definition---these "special programs" ARE what he accuses his opposition of being!!!!!

I have known the family of one of these young men for 30 years and both parents are/were long time drug users, as are his siblings and cousins, one cousin is in prison for murdering his own uncle.

At least in his case, he was not lured as an innocent victim into the Doctors office or to the Pharmacies. While she is clearly in violation of many laws and should lose her license forever, it will be hard to get 12 people to find this Dr. Guilty of Murder...

Conrad Murray only got 4 years for "killing" an American Icon.

Like I said, Stephanie: my comments come from the "reality based" world - not the right wing fantasy land where an organization like the AAMC fakes the routine statistical data it collects.

And you're the one playing the "card" - the "Oh, I'm a victim! You called me a racist!!!" card -- and just because you're sprewing racist B.S. Go figure.

The fact that you and Darrien have to resort to obvious fiction and reality denial to play your "victim" card makes your ideology pretty obvious. I don't think that Darrien made his story up - it's probably just another of the innumerable bogus stories circulating the internet among right wing nutjobs, catering to their fears and biases.

I see it all the time - frequently in connection with some story that has absolutely nothing to do with the garbage being written by the nutjob - like here. But letting stuff like what Darrien and you peddle just float along pollutes the intellectual substance of the community.
