The Rotary Club of Danville held its 15th annual Pete Villa awards luncheon on Monday, December 13th at the Brass Door Restaurant. The winner was San Ramon Valley High School quarterback Zack Klein. The award, named after Peter Villa, founder of the Thunderbirds youth football program, recognizes the most outstanding high school football players in the San Ramon Valley. Each year, three student athletes from the four high schools in the area are nominated by their coaches. This year’s nominees were: Armani Washington, Jerrell Dunn and Kevin Farley from California High School; Xavier Vaesau, Geordan Rogers and Troy Ruckman from Dougherty Valley High School; Jeff Lockie (1st runner up), Dan Scritchfield and Troy Johnson from Monte Vista High School; and Zach Klein, Matthew Fisher (2nd runner up) and Colin Nelson from San Ramon Valley High School.
