This week's police log
Crimes & Incidents, posted by Editor, Danville Weekly Online, on Jan 4, 2012 at 7:54 am

The Danville Police Department provides Danville Express with a record of its calls each week. This is a sampling, omitting the more mundane, such as routine traffic stops, service requests, noise complaints and domestic disturbances.

Suggestion: Why not have the weekly police log report the incidents of tickets given to individuals who feel they are above the law and continue to talk on their hand held cell phones while driving around town? Perhaps this will help bring awareness that this epidemic is being addressed.

Mrs. Danville,

I have not seen a ticket specifically written for a cell phone violation on the police log. Often, the log lists citations during traffic stops but the reason for the citation is unclear. The Danville Police have enough on their hands that I don't feel its necessary to ask about and/or write up each traffic citations. Instead, I will continue to focus on auto and commercial burglaries, armed robberies and the like.

Jessica, When I moved here to Danville 8 years ago the Danville Police had very few problems. I remember the Police Log you guys print had, it seems to me, fewer than 10 violations reported each week. It's too bad there are so many criminals either in Danville or coming to Danville to commit so many crimes. No wonder our property values have dropped so much - are we just another statistic or can we return to the beautiful and safe community we once were? I say no way in Hell. Isn't that so sad?

Danville is a very unsecure town. I wish my property would sell and then I will leave this town. Have a safe 2012 folks.
