"Justin Hammer attempted to turn himself in at the Newark police station on Friday afternoon, but was turned away by police because they didn't have a warrant for his arrest. The Happy Wellness Center CEO is among the four Danville residents sought in connection with operating the illegal marijuana dispensary."

Wait - what? He's "sought" but when he tries to turn himself in they send him away because there's no warrant for his arrest? Does this actually make any sense to anyone?

Incidentally - lots of folks in Danville own shotguns and "assault rifles."

Legalize marijuana and let the police focus on real crimes.

As far as I'm concerned it IS a real crime that this loser had young children living with him among reams of pot, guns, ammo and other drug dealing adults he surrounded himself with. He may not care what happens to his kids, or what kind of danger he's putting them in along with other children and families in the neighborhood- but anyone living in Danville who values a safe, healthy environment for children and our families to live in, should.

The crackdown stopped Justin Hammer from running a pot clinic which was selling in large part to youth, and exposed behavior that was endangering his own innocent children along with all the neighborhood families. I am more than happy that the police sent in all the resources they did, before a drug deal gone wrong ended in something much worse.

I own a shotgun and have a case of ammo because I buy it in bulk. It's all LEGAL! Get over it.

I'm an Ivy-league educate business owner. Just because I shoot skeet doesn't mean I don't value a "safe, healthy environment for children...etc."

Let me get this traight. A SWAT team, a helicoptetr and numerous other police agencies are dispatched to arrest a wowman in a quiet neighborhood with guns drawn and then one of the other alleged defendants tries to turn himself in and explain the circumstances and he is turned away ?? Yup, our tax dollars hard at work.

My understanding is that once the police arrest him, they have to bring charges right away- so they likely turned him away in order to to collect as much evidence as possible to build an airtight case prior to arrest. They could have arrested him immediately based on some of the charges, but probably want more to ensure there is a conviction. The girl they arrested was just working there- not the person in charge. So they probably didn't care as much.
