If I can take a second, I’d like to just clarify that when the police log reflects a ‘promiscuous shooting’ it means that someone has reported hearing something which could be construed as a gunshot. The reality is that in many cases these sounds turn out to be such things as fireworks or car backfires.
The majority of reports of this nature investigated by Danville Police are determined to be unfounded. There are few, if any, cases where an actual weapon was found to have been fired.
Since there was some concern displayed on these threads on the number of such reports that show up in the police log, we thought it would be best to explain that in most cases, the noise heard was not a gunshot.
Hope this helps, have a great day!
Thanks
