The bus system's caught in a Catch-22. People don't want to ride the bus if they have to wait an hour and walk a mile to catch it, but at the same time the public transit agency can't increase service when it sees only a handful of passengers per ride.

Another excellent in-depth story, well-written for ease of understanding. Clearly, the overall issue is market service versus affect of service available from our bus system.
In order to bring a product, including service, to any market, one must ask, "Who asked you to do it?" A product or service has a volume of customers when such product or services delivers what was asked for by prospective customers.
The County Connection has clearly made a mistake by being in the "Bus Business" and not in the "Destination Business." Timely destinations in service to a volume of customers is the product of the County Connection. When such a product is offered, the County Connection will be a volume service to customers of the destination business.

I was able to walk from BART Walnut Creek to my home in the North Iron Horse neighborhood faster than the available bus. Early this month, I returned from Oakland on BART and went to the buses line up for further transportation. The appropriate bus had no driver and there was no service representative available to provide scheduled departure times. I walked leasurely through downtown Walnut Creek, along South Main, to the Rudgear trailhead, and then stopped to chat with a neighbor. Some ten minutes later, the bus I would have rode passed by.
Hal is right, County Connection will only succeed if they pursue timely destinations.

I would take a bus more often than a few times a year if i didn't need to walk over a mile to get to the nearest bus stop, even if there were 50 minute intervals between buses. They should provide service to El Capitan/Greenbrook. There are a lot more people living in that area than on Camino Ramon. If the service becomes more convenient, I would ride the bus at least twice a week.

Does anyone have more information about the feeder/express routing that is used in global transportation. The CDSI references were great but I want to see if we can apply it to the Iron Horse corridor.

Thank you Iron Horse neighbors!
All the research references recently circulated shows there are immediate answers for bus rapid transit systems in our Iron Horse corridor and local feeder systems to really allow ease of commute. Most importantly, all can be done within budget with better use of personnel and equipment.
