Marijuana dispensaries one step closer to going up in smoke
Around Town, posted by Editor, Danville Weekly Online, on Sep 8, 2011 at 9:06 am

The Town Council unanimously voted on Tuesday night to continue the discussion on permanently banning medical marijuana dispensaries within town limits. The council will reconvene on Tuesday, Sept. 20 to read the ordinance for a second time, discuss the issue of cultivation and consider adoption.

Go for it Danville, who cares about the folks that are suffering with cancer and other painful issues. Keep your simple little town simple. Some day you just may wake up and realize booze and smoking is much worse for the human body than marijuana.

Thanks, Julia Pardini from Alamo

How true, Julia! Many people I know are in tremendous pain for various reasons. Some take prescribed narcotic pain relievers and/or drink alcohol. I have watched the health of several deteriorate. My grandmother used to smoke marijuana, when she was a student and later teacher at the Chicago Art Institute. She bought it over the counter in packs at the local drugstore. We either need to come into the 21st Century and embrace it's knowledge and advances, or go back a hundred years before the government started to control too many aspects of our lives!

I have two elementary girls attending Greenbrook and the decesion the Town Council made is correct. The last thing I want is something like that in my neighborhood. Even though you will counter it's for medical purposes if you read a little more you will understand that a majority of the cannabis club members have no medical condition...We like to keep our little community the way it is Julia and I know you love it when you are in our downtown enjoying the decent people walking around and not stoned.

What a bunch of NIMBYs!

well there you go! Our little community the way it is! I am thinking of the children! Right now our poor children have to sit behind the Starbucks buying their cannabis hiding from the public eye...wouldn't you rather have them right there in the open?

It is Danville so maybe if they had a wine and cheese bar within the cannabis club Danville residents would have no problem :-) Heck I see a whole spin on Mommy and me night!!

The Town Fathers (and Mothers) can solve this problem by banning smoking within the city limits. That will take care of the tobacco smokers AND the potheads.

Easy, huh?

We have enough prescription drug abuse by kids and parents who think it is ok to pop painkillers, depressants, sleeping pills or anti-anxiety drugs and stimulants. This aside from alcohol is rampart in Danville and other communities.

How about bringing jobs in Danville for our children to keep them busy and working as they should. Too many "not working" kids roaming the streets.

Keeping a Cannabis club out of Danville is a good idea. We have enough crap going on.
