WalMart rumor quashed by San Ramon City Council
Around Town, posted by Editor, Danville Weekly Online, on Aug 24, 2011 at 7:20 am

Contrary to rumor, WalMart is not headed to San Ramon, despite a flier that's been circulated around the city recently. "I don't know who started the rumor," said Councilwoman Carol Rowley. "There's been no community input. Staff has had no communication with WalMart."

I, for one, would be thrilled if Walmart came to San Ramon!

Dear Editor,

For the past 10+ years the We-Want-A-Wal-Mart Committee of the Alamo Towne Fool has been planning an upscale Wal-Mart to replace Hap Magee Ranch Park in Danville and Alamo. Walton's at the Water Tower, as a 40 or 41 floor high rise (Well, that's another story) would contain our Wal-Mart plus the Alamo/Danville station for BART as the Byron to Alamo Rapid Transit, a roller coaster ride over the the top of Mt. Diablo that continues to Castro Valley and Sunol.

It appears this wonderful concept has caught on and now our San Ramon neighbors are seeing the value of such enterprise and maybe even their own BART station.

Of Ralph going wanting for news

I for one would be disgusted if a Wal-mart came to the area. Never shopped Wal-mart, never will.

Wal-Mart attracts a sub culture of vermin.

Dear Editor,

It is your role as a journalist to ask about the prejudice that labels Wal-Mart shoppers vermin but excuses Target shoppers. Jump in here and make your point, please, or is prejudice the product of your editorial perspective?

Vermin?

Quite laughably, Ralph looking at sponsored prejudice.

What we really need in the Town and Country Shopping Village is

a HARDWARE STORE! and a yogurt shop...

WalMart is an All-American company. Sam Walton was the kind of free-market capitalist and job creator that people across the political spectrum say that the USA needs to support. I overcame my and preconceptions about WalMart and started shopping there a number of years ago. The company is outstanding in its business strategy, customer focus, customer service and profitability. WalMart is also huge in China and other nations around the world. US companies such as WalMart are part of the second stage of US global economic leadership.

It's funny that the people who live in Danville, commented that they like Walmart, although, none of them wanted it in their town of Danville, no, they want to see it move to San Ramon! I wonder why???? Keep Danville beautiful and trash San Ramon is their thinking!

Did you know that Walmart in Pleasanton has an AC Transit Bus in their parking lot used to transport "their employees" from Stockton?

No local jobs here from Walmart. Google Walmart policies, and the crime they bring to communities across the USA. In addition, they train their "bussed-in" employees how to apply for all government benefits ie housing; food; etc.., to Walmart's benefit. Are these the kind of policies that make for a good neighbor?
