Our local town drunk... All the Danville PD ever does is stick him in jail until he dries out. I had a run in with him years ago and was threatened. The PD told me he was harmless. Not surprised at all this has happened. Hopefully this time he is charged and locked up.

I'm sure the bycyclist desirved it .....95% of them are arogant idiots who think they own the road! Have you ever seen one stop for a stop sign???? Not very often!!!! We need to get bikes licensed and taxed through the DMV! Can anyone tell me why the idiots ride on the bike lane line when they have the whole bike lane?????

Didn't you know that the bicyclists around here have a special entitlement to ride in the car lane, ride 5 abreast, stop traffic and don't have to follow traffic laws? I have asked them how one qualifies to not have to follow the rules of the road and they refuse to tell me how to apply for this special exemption.

While not all cyclists don't obey the traffic laws. Many do that, just the same as motorists do/don't. First, cyclists have EVERY right to the road as motorists as do pedestrians they were built for ALL. As for the right of way, it has to do with mobility, it's the law. First is the pedestrian followed by the bike and then the car. Much is the same on the water or in the air, those are the LAWS. Those motorists that find fault with cyclists should come out and go for a good 35 mile ride and climb up Mt. DIablo and see what we experience from the impatient motorists and non law abiding motorists. Then again, many of these same motorists are so out of shape that they could never even make it one mile let alone 35 miles. Share the road and relax.

WOW...how quickly the comments turned against the biker's. It sure says something about how the media may control the mind.
Jesssica, my, my, what a silly statement. Face prison, please Jessica wake up my dear. Some people can murder their child and walk and you think (well maybe you didn't think) hitting a biker with a stick is going put in him in prison.
The Danville Weekly is getting funnier and funnier each day.

Most bicycle-car accidents are caused by cyclists. They are real pests. Swarms of them come to Danville disregarding basic rules of the road. On the walking trail, too, they aggressively scare and intimidate walkers. I have yet to see one stop at the stop sign or even red light.

Who cares who is fit Campogolo.......you missed the whole point!!!! DUH......you must be to fit and its eating away at your brain!! lol
If you should dare say anything to the arogant cyclist's they want to fight you. I asked one one time at a red light, I said, "If you have the whole bike lane to yourself why are you in my lane" and he gets all defensive and wants to fight me.....I said, "I don't want to fight right now but I was just wondering why you do that" He followed me all the way down Railroad Ave to SRVHS......taunting me at every light and stop sign......not sure what's up with these IDIOTS but one day they are going to run into someone thats not drunk and they are going to get a butt whoopin.....(had to be nice) and I hope I am there to see it! And yea, whats with those girlie costumes they all seem to wear.......they almost look like they should have wings on them! ROTFLMBBO!

Hilde is currently in jail on $110,000 which no one has posted yet. I'm not sure what you mean with specific regard to the Danville Express controlling the mind, but if you read my article carefully you'd know that the man was brought up on a number of charges from past events. I don't believe that hitting someone with a stick is a prison-worthy event, but I don't know the severity of the beating. Anything is possible.
As for the rest of the commenters who are upset about cyclists, I encourage you all to contact the Danville Police, who will be issuing citations shortly as part of their Share Our Streets campaign. Please refer to this article for further information: Web Link

This is insane to talk about fighting and what not. Making comments about the attire of cyclists out of frustration or pure ignorance is pitiful. Are we not better than this here, I'm sure we really are. Then let's all act that way and set the right example. We all need to abide by the law and I have no issues with motorists, cyclists or pedestrians being cited accordingly for breaking the law.

0. RATIONAL DRUNKS - from the sound of it the stick wielder is a known trouble maker and substance abuser. Which is a shaky foundation for building a case that the cyclist provoked the attack by disobeying traffic laws, particularly when the write up states that the attacker "was not provoked".
1. BIKE LANES - Expecting a cyclist to ride in bike lanes is all very well when it is clear except where, in a lot of residential areas, it is filled with parked cars. Or where the town, in its infinite wisdom, has seen fit to force bikes out of the bike lane with a bulb-out. And since I drive a lot more than I ride...what's with pedestrians using the bike lane instead of the sidewalk?
2. ON THE LINE - I can sympathize with the road cyclists, with their skinny-tired wheels, who are probably trying to avoid pinch flats from the poorly filled potholes but avoid the need, myself, by riding a fat tired mountain bike with suspension that soaks up such irregularities.
3. IRON HORSE TRAIL - Rather than drag out a list of incidents accumulated over the years, let's just say that most pedestrians, dog walkers, roller bladers and cyclists get on just fine. (As do most motorists and cyclists).

How often do you see someone in a car driving like the aragont bike rider???? I think your spandex is cutting off circulation to your BRAIN...........read what you wrote!

I'm not even going to respond to your comments other than, I invite you to join the local cycling community too. You might find that we're a good group of guys/women who appreciate being very fit and the challenges that the Bay Area terrain provides along with the natural beauty. Give it a try and work up to doing your first metric century, full century and even the daddy, The Death Ride and more.

Campororo.....I have a bike, and when I ride, I keep out of the way of traffic. You wouldn't catch me dead with one of those stupid looking helmets on with the fake spandex looking costume with the stupid little spy mirror......
If you like looking and acting like a NERD............ENJOY yourself! It's not for me!
