@ Duffy- then get involved in the federal surface transportation reauthorization bill process- California is, and had been for many years, been a donor state when it comes to transportation funding, which means it receives less from the federal government than what it gives in taxes. You may have paid your taxes, but some of that is going to transportation projects in other states. A nice resource: Web Link.
