Why are Contra Costa County supervisors having such difficulty executing the will and interests of Contra Costans. In news service polling, Contra Costans have decided redistricting boundaries that establish commonality of communities and economic corridors. Supervisors’ only jobs are to execute the immediate will and interests of Contra Costans.

Yesterday, supervisors did a great deal of role-playing and posturing in an attempt to execute their personal choices for district boundaries. Supervisors want Contra Costans to accept a nearly-status quo adjustment of district boundaries without the potential for regulatory, legislative and legal challenge by communities and neighborhoods. That proposal continues to violate requirements for commonality of communities interests established in 2001 boundaries.

Certainly linking far away Discovery Bay to the 680 south corridor has little in-common community interests and corridor and delta region communities and neighborhoods wish to challenge any maintenance of that linkage. Thus, we are seeing the dilemma of supervisors’ self-interests interfering with their responsibility to execute Contra Costans’ will and interests due to the overall failure of communication by county officials. Contra Costa communities and neighborhoods sent their teams to workshops to deliver the will and interests of Contra Costans and supervisors isolated themselves from delivery of such will and interests.

It has always been a reality that Contra Costa County, 19 city governments and various districts do not provide interactive discussion with Contra Costans in consideration and mitigation of community interests. Thus, let’s ask your readers about their concerns for Contra Costa governments’ communication with communities, neighborhoods and individual Contra Costans.

Are Contra Costans being served?
